Le Cadeau du Cheval, The Horse Gift, Las Vegas!

The Horse Gift will be coming to the Cowboy Christmas show at the National Finals Rodeo in December. It will be displayed from December 4th to December 13th, 2008. I can't wait to see the mural in person!


AND.........On December 6th and 7th, William Shatner is scheduled to be at the display signing prints of the mural! His likeness is on one of the panels of the mural. It will be so great to meet him, have pics taken with him under the mural, and have him sign my personal copy!!!!!

The Horse Gift Mural Mosaic was unveiled a few minutes ago (1 p.m.) at Spruce Meadows in Canada. This is a gorgeous mural that will be travelling all over Canada and the U.S. My panel is #188. Many thanks to Phil Alain, Lewis Lavoie, & Paul Lavoie for allowing me to be a part of this fantastic mural.

Wild Horse Days & The Horse Gift Unveiling

August 23rd I will be in DeBeque, Colorado, Wild Horse Days, as a vendor. If you are in the area on Saturday, please come by and say Hi!!! I have never been at this venue before but have heard nothing but wonderful things about it. This venue is a fundraiser to help the wild mustangs that are in the area. Please come by and enjoy the festivities that they will be providing. I will have original paintings, prints, and notecards for sale there and look forward to the nice weather and wonderful people.

The Horse Gift Mural Mosaic, Le Cadeau du Cheval, will be unveiled at Spruce Meadows on September 3rd! Only a few more weeks and we will see what the entire mural looks like. There is a teaser of the horse's face on the Spruce Meadows site.

8 Minutes of Peace

This is my entry in the '8 Minutes of Peace' contest. Because of the World Olympics being held in Bejing on 08-08-08, it is being proposed that we pause for 8 minutes on the 8th day of each month at 8 p.m. in our own time zones to offer peace in some form to our neighbours.

My entry, I hope, represents that 8 minutes. The two halves of the world being seen at one time forming an 8 being supported by one man and one woman of different races indicating unity and peace.

Finished!! The Horse Gift Mural Panel

I have finally completed my panel for Le Cadeau du Cheval. If you wish to see it, you will need to go to the mural site and look at it there. The Horse Gift, almost done

This my latest installment and it will probably be the last WIP pic because I am to the final tweaking stages and the next pic will be the final one of the panel that I will submit.

This has been a fun ride, through all its 'OMG, I'll never get this right' to one of the head honchos for the mural telling me he loves it.

I would love to do it again. These murals give you freedom while having restraints. It pushes you beyond what you think you can do, but reels you in, making you conform. I feel so honored to be a part of this. This has been a learning experience and has enhanced my art considerably.

One more step closer to finish. Still lots to do but the generalities are now there. It is still a sketch at this point, color values will need to be addressed, etc. I think I will call it Foundation.

Le Cadeau du Cheval, the Horse Gift

I got my panel! I am so excited. I can see horses in it that I could not see in the online pic of it. It looks like a herd, but then again I can see the foal laying there. Choices, choices!

The pic here is off the internet and is actually way too blue, in real life the panel is chestnut brown, gray and magenta.

I will let the panel sit across the room from my computer for a day or two before actually deciding on what to paint. I will post updates as I go along.

The Horse Gift Mural Mosaic

The mural I am a part of is called Le Cadeau du Cheval. It has been interpreted in English to be The Horse Gift. I think it should be given its direct translation of The Gift of the Horse. God gave us the Gift of the Horse, and this mural will be interpreted by over 200 artists to reflect what the horse has truly meant to us in history.

We were told that the panels are on their way to us right now and we have until July 1st to get them back to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I already have something in mind for my panel and can't wait to see the true canvas to see if my interpretation will coincide with the colors painted on it.

I am proud to be a member of this project! We have just been given the chance to pick 3 panels to paint, only one of which will be sent to us. So even though we saw and chose, we will not know which panel until we receive it.
